1. lonely, friendless, unfriended, companionless, by oneself; alone, all alone, without a friend in the world, with no one to turn to; alienated, apart, cut off, without ties; unwanted, unwelcomed, rejected, unpopular, unliked, disliked; estranged, outcast, forlorn, forsaken, bereft, abandoned, deserted, homeless.
2.(all for want of companionship) sad, depressed, melancholy, maudlin, Inf. down, Inf. down in the dumps, Inf. blue, Inf. low. See sad.
